James Bourke Jnr joined his father at Ladkarn in 1993 as a junior site labourer. Ladkarn believes that every member of the team needs to learn the trade and processes, and James was no exception.
James studied Plant Mechanics at Oaklands College from 1993-95, and on graduating, worked for Ladkarn as a mechanic. He spent two years on the Jubilee Line extension project, where he was responsible for maintenance of all the massive machines used for tunnel groundworks. From there he moved on to driving the machines and running small jobs.
As his career progressed, James went back to Oaklands College from 1996-1999, this time to study site management. He has always had an immense respect for his craft, wanting to ensure he does things the correct way.

On completion of his training, James managed all of Ladkarn’s sites from 1999 and took over the business from his father in 2001.
In 2002, he took the step of diversifying the business to include residential works. James has two children, and in his spare time enjoys fitness and travel.
